Specification Test for Spatial Autoregressive Models

چکیده
This paper considers a simple test for the correct specification of linear spatial autoregressive models, assuming that the choice of the weight matrix is true. We derive the limiting distributions of the test under the null hypothesis of correct specification and a sequence of local alternatives. We show that the test is free of nuisance parameters asymptotically under the null and prove the consistency of our test. To improve the finite sample performance of our test, we also propose a residual-based wild bootstrap and justify its asymptotic validity. We conduct a small set of Monte Carlo simulations to investigate the finite sample properties of our tests. Finally, we apply the test to two empirical datasets: the vote cast and the economic growth rate. We reject the linear spatial autoregressive model in the vote cast example but fail to reject it in the economic growth rate example. JEL Classification: C12; C14; C21.

Bayesian Analysis of Spatial Probit Models in Wheat Waste Management Adoption
The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing the adoption of wheat waste management by wheat farmers. The method used in this study using the spatial Probit models and Bayesian model was used to estimate the model. MATLAB software was used in this study. The data of 220 wheat farmers in Khouzestan Province based on random sampling were collected in winter 2016. To calculate Bay...
متن کاملOn model specification and parameter space definitions in higher order spatial econometric models
a r t i c l e i n f o Higher-order spatial econometric models that include more than one weights matrix have seen increasing use in the spatial econometrics literature. There are two distinct issues related to the specification of these extended models. The first issue is what form the higher-order spatial econometric model takes, i.e. higher-order polynomials in the spatial weights matrices vs...
متن کاملA Matrix Exponential Spatial Specification
We introduce the matrix exponential as a way of modelling spatially dependent data. The matrix exponential spatial specification simplifies the loglikelihood allowing a closed form solution to the problem of maximum likelihood estimation, and greatly simplifies Bayesian estimation of the model. The matrix exponential spatial specification can produce estimates and inferences similar to those fr...

متن کاملTesting for a Unit Root against Transitional Autoregressive Models
This paper considers the test of a unit root in transitional autoregressive models. In particular, we develop the asymptotic theory of the inf-t test for the null hypothesis of a unit root in a wide class of nonlinear autoregressive models having parameters that are identified only under the alternative of stationarity. Our framework is very general and allows for virtually all potentially inte...
